Panama Canal Railway, Portobelo & Panama Canal Agua Claras Locks Tour

Panama Canal Railway. The train departs from Corozal Passenger Station in the Panama Canal area at 7:15 a.m. and will take the tourists to Colon City. This was the first railway built in the American continent in 1855 and runs along the Panama Canal. It provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Canal and forest that surrounds it. 1 hr.

Portobelo Town. After arrival in Colon City, tourists will be transferred to Portobelo town by bus. The town was founded by the Spanish in 1597 and served as a deep-water port for the Spanish ships during the colonial period. Tourists will visit the fortification with his cannons, which used to protect the town from the frequent incursions of British pirates. Panama Canal Agua Claras Locks. After Portobelo, tourists will be transferred to the Observation Deck of the Agua Claras Lock at the Atlantic entrance of the Panama Canal. These are new Locks inaugurated in 2016 and allow the passage of larger ships called Neo-Panamax. Tourists can enjoy a great view of the Locks and Gatun Lake and learn about the history of the Canal at the Projection Room and also buy souvenirs at the Gift Shop.
